Measuring up: will it fit through the door?

Most beds arrive flat-packed, but headboards, sofas and wardrobes can still be big, heavy boxes. Ten minutes with a tape measure before you order saves a lot of trouble on delivery day.

What to measure

  • Front door and every internal door on the way: width and height of the opening, with the door open.
  • Hallways: width, and any radiators or tables that narrow them.
  • Stairs: width, the headroom above them, and especially any turns or landings.
  • The room itself: floor size, ceiling height, and where the door opens.
  • Apartments: the lift door and car size, or the stairwell if there's no lift.

What to check on the product page

  • The assembled size (frame, not mattress).
  • Whether it arrives flat-packed or assembled, and the size of the biggest box if given.
  • For sofas, whether the legs or back cushions come off.

If you can't find a measurement, contact our customer service team before ordering.

On delivery day

Our crew delivers to your doorstep, or to the building hallway for apartments (up to the 2nd floor where there's no lift). Assembly isn't included, so have a second person on hand to carry heavy boxes inside, and clear a path to the room. Full details: delivery to Ireland explained.

Will it fit the room?

For beds, the bed size calculator works out which sizes fit your room with space to walk around.
